Wow! These last few weeks have been a whirlwind! Last week we hosted a successful Quo Vadis Days online discernment retreat for High School and College aged young men to help them discern their vocation, whether that be to marriage, the priesthood, or religious life. It was a very blessed time, and we had many young men tune in to our livestreams and zoom calls to grow in their ability to discern God’s will.
This week, as I write this article, we have two big events in the Vocation Office happening. We had a very great Seminarian Convocation, in which our seminarians gathered together for prayer, fraternity, and formation at the Catholic Pastoral Center. Fr. Brian Buettner, our Vocation Director, gave some great conferences on Friendship with Christ and being men of Communion, and the seminarians got a chance to share their vocation stories with one another. It was a very beautiful thing to be a part of, and to hear the seminarians tell about how the Lord has brought them where they are was extremely edifying!
Finally, we have the Archbishop’s Dinner to help raise money for our Seminarian Education Fund. We have a great opportunity to thank all of the donors that make it possible to educate and form our 27 seminarians. I look forward to this event, and am sure it will be a joyful night, even in the midst of going online due to Covid-19.
Please continue to pray for our seminarians as they return to seminary in the coming weeks. This will be a very stressful year for them as they return to formation in the midst of the pandemic. Please ask the Lord to give them the grace they need to remain focused on him, always trusting in his providence and finding their hope and strength through prayer. God bless you all!
